This page sets out the terms you accept by RSVPing to, registering for, attending, or taking part in any event organized by the Ducati Riders of Orange County. Every DROC event links here. Read it once, and read it again if anything changes.
A signed waiver is required
You need a signed DROC waiver on file to take part in any DROC activity. You sign it once and it covers every activity from that day forward, until you revoke it in writing. If you have not signed one yet, do it before you show up.
At some events, guests and non-members are asked to sign an event-specific waiver on site. The disclaimer below is notice of the terms. It does not replace the signed waiver, and the signed waiver governs if the two ever differ.
Disclaimer and acknowledgment of risk
By RSVPing to, registering for, attending, or taking part in any DROC event, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accept this disclaimer, for yourself and for any guest or passenger you bring.
Participation is voluntary and on an “at-will” basis. Motorcycling and motorcycle events carry a risk of serious injury, permanent disability, death, and loss of or damage to property. DROC does not control the roads, the traffic, the weather, the road surface, the venue, or the conduct of other participants or of third parties. You accept and assume all risks of participating, known and unknown, including risks created by the ordinary negligence of DROC or of another participant.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release WE ARE DROC, a California nonprofit mutual benefit corporation doing business as Ducati Riders of Orange County (“DROC”), and its successors and assigns, together with its officers, directors, hosts, organizers, co-organizers, ride leaders, assistants, volunteers, members, sponsors, and any venue or partner hosting the event, and you agree not to sue them, for any injury, death, loss, or damage to you or your property arising out of your participation. You agree to indemnify and hold them harmless from any claim arising out of your participation that is brought by you, by your guest or passenger, or by anyone acting on your behalf.
This release does not apply to gross negligence, recklessness, or willful misconduct, and it does not waive any right that cannot be waived under California law. If any part of it is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
You are responsible for your own conduct, for obeying all applicable laws, and for anyone you bring with you. Participation is limited to adults 18 and over. A minor may attend a non-riding event as the guest of an accompanying adult, but no one under 18 may ride at, or take part in any riding portion of, an event. DROC may ask anyone to leave an event at any time.
On rides
You confirm that you hold a valid motorcycle license and the insurance required by law, that your motorcycle is street legal and mechanically sound, and that you are fit to ride and not impaired by alcohol, drugs, or medication. DROC rides are not guided, supervised, or instructional. You ride your own ride, at your own pace, within your own limits, and you alone are responsible for your speed and your decisions on the road. The pre-ride safety meeting is mandatory for every rider, and riders must follow what is briefed there.
On track days
The track and the track-day organizer set the rules and require their own waiver, tech inspection, and gear standards. Where DROC is not the organizer, DROC does not run the event and is not responsible for it, and your entry is governed by that organizer’s terms in addition to this disclaimer.
At venues
Ride responsibly. Don’t drink and ride. If you plan on drinking, use a ride-share. The venue’s own rules apply while you are on its property.
Before every event
Please have an ‘in case of emergency’ (“ICE”) contact number programmed in your phone (instructions for iPhone and Android) and/or placed on your bike.
