ADV tour: Grand Canyon and the National Monuments
Five days and the biggest scenery on the list: alongside the Grand Canyon, past the Hoover Dam, Horseshoe Bend, and Monument Valley, through Nevada, Arizona and Utah. DROC ran it in May 2025.
It was designed for touring and adventure bikes, for riders who have wanted to see this part of the country from a motorcycle rather than through a windscreen.
What it involves
- Five days out, which makes it the longest tour DROC has organized.
- Long days between fuel stops. Some of these roads have very little on them, which is the appeal and also the planning problem.
- Heat is the real variable. Late spring is chosen deliberately; the same route in July would be unpleasant and unsafe.

ADV tours are members-only and they are not the place to find out how you feel after six hours in the saddle. If you have not done one of the long day rides yet, start there. Nobody minds, and it is a much better way to learn what your bike and your back are good for.
